Guerillas in the Mist...

Helen from New Zealand would be my last travelling companion on my trip. I met her on Caye Caulker in Belize and I had a feeling we would get on from the moment she said she had a hatred for Bono, Coldplay and People who wear Che Gervra merchandise. The 22 year year old was working her way up to LA where she would catch a flight to Ireland where she would be spending the next year working in Dublin before heading off again on her travels. Helen always managed to put a smile on my face and had the ability to make long bus journeys and we seemed to bounce off each other in...

The Wrong Way Round...

Some weeks nothing goes right for me, when I have bad luck I seem to get so much bad luck at once. Anyway I guess this is what travelling around the world is all about. After a wonderful and memorable time at Lake Atitlan surely this high couldn’t last for long, Well it lasted about for about 2 hours after I let Pana and caught the bus to Xela. Lake Atitlan Uncovered...

Ten years ago I saw an article in my first ever National Geographic about a lake in Guatemala. Drooling over the beautiful photos of this majestic lake its one place i’ve always wanted to visit. The weather was a bit crappy as the afternoon clouds rolled in but nothing is going to stop me seeing this lake…… . We roll up to the Pana which is the port town on the north east end of the lake and I was so excited to set eyes on it i couldn’t get down...

The Long Way Home...

Chris, Monica, David, Saha and I decided to travel together on the public bus to Guatemala City where we would change buses for our next stop Antiqua. The bus ride wasn’t very relaxing and seem to take forever as it would pick people up and drop people off in remote locations on route. Every now and then groups of Guatemalans would board the bus trying to sell you local food and handy crafts. Even kids would climb on board and sing old folk songs for money. This bus is one of the better buses in Guatemala and i’ll be frank after being whisked around Mexico in...
